Indore Leads the Race with 478.3 Million Sq Ft in Green Building Footprints and Urban Infrastructure in MP

Indore, Madhya Pradesh, is rapidly moving forward in the development of green buildings and urban infrastructure. Recently, Indore announced the establishment of India’s first green waste processing plant under the Swachh Bharat Mission-Urban, which will be developed under a public-private partnership (PPP) model.

This project is being launched with the aim of converting green waste into valuable resources, reducing pollution, and promoting environmental sustainability. The plant will generate revenue for the Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) and produce wood pellets as an alternative to coal.

Indore generates 30 tons of green waste per day, which increases to 60-70 tons in the autumn season. The IMC will receive a royalty of ₹3,000 per ton of wood and branches supplied. The plant will convert wood waste into wood pellets, which is an eco-friendly alternative to coal.

The branches of large trees will be sent to the City Forest Green Waste Processing Plant. Green waste will be dried for 3-4 months, reducing moisture content by up to 90%. With the help of modern machines, the dried waste will be converted into fine wood dust (sawdust). This sawdust will be reused in various eco-friendly products.
